Armed group attacked in Algeria

The Algerian daily al-Khabar said on Sunday that Algerian Army forces killed 28 gunmen from the Algerian armed groups who rejected the civil concord law during mopping-up operations carried out in the Ain Tareq area of Gleizan district, 300 km from the capital, Algiers. The daily added that the Algerian forces arrested 20 members of the armed groups inside shelters in the mountains.

The paper reported that 20 soldiers were killed during mopping-up operations as a result of mine explosions planted by the armed groups in the area, and some 12 pieces of weapons were confiscated.

The paper continued that the Algerian army and police forces pounded armed groups' positions in Sidi Ali Bunab in Tizi Ouzou province.

Twelve armed men were killed, the paper added.

He daily added as saying that the forces bombarded a wide mopping up operation in al-Kaff al-Ahmar area. Five armed men were killed in the province of Oum el Bouaghi. About 19 persons were arrested in El Tarf province on the charge of helping armed men, the paper indicated.
