El-Bashir visits Emirates today
United Arab Emirates-Sudan, Politics, 1/22/2000

Sudanese President Omar Hasan El-Bashir headed today to the United Arab Emirates in an official visit, during which he will meet with Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan to discuss the developments in the Middle East, the situation in the Gulf and developments in Sudan.

Sudanese sources said El-Bashir is trying to get Arab support for Sudan's unity and territorial integrity and support against the opposition which tries to divide Sudan, confronting foreign schemes, supporting El-Bashir's call for stopping the war, achieving peace in Sudan and overcoming the allegations and lies promoted by suspect organizations against Sudan.

Bashir visited a number of Arab states after declaring the state of emergency and the dissolution of the national parliament, a matter which had led to an internal political crisis with the government on one side, and the parliament and the ruling party on the other.

The UAE considered the measures taken by El-Bashir as legitimate, expressing hope that stability would prevail.
