Japan asks Lebanon to deliver five persons seeking right of asylum
Lebanon-Japan, Politics, 1/22/2000

A Japanese security delegation arrived in Lebanon and discussed with Lebanese judicial officials handing over five Japanese suspects in Lebanon, as Tokyo is pushing Beirut to hand over the five Japanese suspects through the use of economic pressure.

Discussions took place between the Japanese delegation, which comprises four high-ranking security officials, and the Lebanese attorney general, Judge Adnan Addoum, as the delegation provided Lebanon with the original documents that contain the type and details of the crimes related to the five Japanese persons in the request.

The committee for the right of asylum which was recently formed in Lebanon determined a period of time until March 7 to start considering the asylum request presented by the five Japanese citizens who are convicted in Lebanon of forging documents and Japanese official stamps and sneaking into Beirut, as the sentence against them will end in March.
