Israel has arrested 12,000 Lebanese since 1978

Mohammed Safa, secretary general of the Khiam Center for the rehabilitation of torture victims said that Israel has arrested 12,000 Lebanese persons since 1978.
Safa, who also heads the Follow-up Committee for the Support of Lebanese Deetainees in the Israeli Prisons, said the committee started moving toward establishing the Khiam Center for the rehabilitation of torture victims as the center intends, according to its specified program, on making a statistical study, following up the individual issues, organizing sessions for vocational and social rehabilitation as well as exerting efforts in respecting human rights.
Safa added that detaining thousands of citizens led to destroying their personal lives and caused them physical, mental and emotional harm and that they also lost their jobs and educational careers.
He said center was established due to the operations carried out in the Khiam detention camp and the Israeli prisons and due to the lack of specialized social corporations.
