False communique of bombs on an Egyptian Boeing airplane heading to Tokyo
Egypt-Japan, Local, 1/22/2000
A false communique of the presence of explosives on an Egyptian airplane heading to Tokyo yesterday caused the delay of its takeoff from Cairo airport for more than three hours, during which the airplane and the passengers were checked.
EgyptAir operations received a communique from a female in Tokyo that said there were explosives on flight N 864 which was to take off from Cairo airport.
Egyptian Assistant Interior Minister Mohamed Salamah, the security manager in the airport, was informed and parts of the Boeing 777 airplane were checked as well as the luggage of the 265 passengers, yet nothing was found.
