Mousa receives Merghani
Egypt-Sudan, Politics, 1/22/2000

Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa is receiving today the chairman of the Sudanese Democratic National Alliance opposition coalition Muhammad Othman al-Merghani.

The talks will tackle developments of the Sudanese issue and the comprehensive political solution in light of the joint Egyptian - Libyan initiative and Egypt's effort as well as communications with the different concerned parts for achieving the rapport and reconciliation in Sudan.

Moussa met on Thursday with the chairman of the opposition Ummah Party al-Sadeq al-Mahdi.

Opposition sources asserted that efforts are being concentrated to bridge the views of the two opposition leaders to prepare for a reconciliation conference with the participation of all sides regardless of any arising disputes.

The sources continued that current contacts with the coalition leadership aim at preparing a united stand for the coalition in order to reach a formula enabling the convening of the reconciliation conference.
