Mugabi concludes visit to Libya

The president of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabi, has concluded a visit to Libya during which he held talks with Libyan leader Col. Moammar Gaddafi dealing with bilateral relations and several African and regional issues of mutual concern.

In a pre-departure statement he made on Friday upon leaving Tripoli's international airport, President Mugabi said his talks with the Libyan president dealt with the situations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Great Lakes region of Africa. He commended the positive results of his visit to Libya.

He stated that he briefed Gaddafi on the results of the meetings of the Southern African states as well as the meeting which was attended by presidents of Rwanda, and Uganda during which they stressed their commitment to the need of implementing peace in the region.
