Jordan refuses request for dialog with Hamas
Jordan, Politics, 1/21/2000
Jordan refused a proposal presented by a leader in the Palestinian Hamas resistance movement on opening a discussion with the kingdom, but it left the door opened for the return of four expelled Hamas officials who have Jordanian citizenship to Amman as normal citizens on the condition that they abandon their leading positions in Hamas.
Jordanian Minister of Information and Culture Saleh Qallab said Wednesday that a discussion with the Hamas' officials in Doha is absolutely not raised, adding that if the four persons wanted to return to Amman as normal citizens, no one woudl stadn in their way.
He added that King Abdullah dropped the legal issues concerning the causes committed by the four persons, therefore they have the right to come back without any barriers.
