Morocco will not pull out of 2006 world cup race
Morocco-Regional, Sports, 1/20/2000

Morocco said it will not pull out of the race to stage the 2006 World Cup and step down in favor of South-Africa if the African Football Confederation (CAF) opted for a single bid.

The sports department reacted to news alleging that the acting chairman of the Moroccan campaign committee Driss Benhima had said in Nairobi the kingdom would desist if CAF elects to back up a single candidate.

The news is groundless and can only be accounted for by a misinterpretation of Benhima's words, says a press-release insisting Morocco would go all the way promoting its bid.
