Eritrea: IGAD initiative for solving Sudanese issue needs development
Sudan-Eritrea, Politics, 1/20/2000

El-Amin Mohammed Saeed, secretary general of the ruling party in Eritrea said that IGAD (Inter-Governmental Authority on Development) initiative for solving the Sudanese issue needs to be developed.

El-Amin, who is currently visiting Khartoum, said in press statements to the Sudanese newspaper El-Rai El-Am yesterday that the visit aims at enhancing relations between the two countries and removing the problems that took place in recent years.

El-Amin asserted Eritrea's and Sudan's desire to turn the page of their tactical relations and convert them to strategic relations that respect the choices.

El-Amin said his country deals with the Sudanese opposition in the limits of what leads to a political solution, and not confusing the political situation and keeping Khartoum's right in regard with the same measure to the Eritrean opposition.
