President Mubarak yesterday received a message from Algerian President Abdul Aziz Bouteflika. The message was conveyed by Algerian Foreign Minister Youssef Al Youcefi. The meeting which was attended by Foreign Minister Amr Moussa and Algerian Ambassador to Cairo Dr. Moustafa Sherif tackled ways of boosting bilateral relations and the convening of the Afro-European Conference in Cairo.

Foreign Minister Amr Moussa said President Mubarak expressed his support for national reconciliation policy under Algerian President Abdul Aziz Bouteflika.

" Algerian President puts, among his priorities, the return of security and civil concord among the Algerian people, " said the Algerian Foreign Minister, adding that the Algerian people endorsed the presidential decree issued by Bouteflika last Tuesday which granted amnesty to members of the Islamic Salvation Army as part of the Civil Concord Law.

The decree resulted in dissolving the armed groups to dissolve themselves and hanging over their arms to the public authority, Youcefi added, pointing out that repentants put themselves at the disposal of the state and renounced all forms of violence, something that indicates that the situation in the country is in its way to the eventual normalization at the security level.

"Algeria has got out of its long tragedy, which allows its citizens to mobilize their efforts for the development and prosperity of their country," Al-Youcefi told newsmen, expounding that President Bouteflika is keen on having distinguished relations with Egypt in all domains.

He said he took up with President Mubarak the situation on the Arab arena and the ways and means to further Arab solidarity as well as the peace process on all its tracks.

Preparations for the upcoming EU-African Summit, to be held by the Organization of African Unity and the European Union were also figured in the meeting. A coordinating meeting in this respect is to be held later.

Asked on the possibility of holding shortly an Arab summit, the Algerian Foreign Minister said there is joint interest in this respect, adding that the two sides are furthering endeavors on this question.
