French employment minister confers with Moroccan officials

French Minister of Employment and Solidarity Martine Aubry, who started on Monday a three-day working visit to the kingdom, conferred with several Moroccan officials on cooperation in matters of education, vocational training, employment and rural world development.

At a meeting with Moroccan Premier Abderrahmane Youssoufi, the French official surveyed the problems posed at the level of social security, vocational training and the labor code.

Youssoufi, on his part, expounded efforts made by his Cabinet to promote the role of women at the political, social and economic levels and underlined the interest of the general debate triggered by the national plan for women's integration in development.

Aubry also met members of the central bureau of the national observatory of children's rights to whom she renewed France's determination to back Morocco's efforts to struggle against the ill-treatment of children and to promote vocational training for children in difficult situation.

She expressed hope that the visit would contribute to a closer partnership between the two countries regarding the protection of childhood and struggle against the illiteracy of young girls, especially in the rural world.

Means of promoting Moroccan-French partnership in the protection of children were equally at the focus of the meeting Martine Aubry held with executives of the Moroccan League for Childhood protection.

The league's chairwoman, Fatima Hassar, surveyed the institution's activities in favor of children and families in a difficult situation and announced the opening shortly of a national research center on mother and child.

Martine Aubry had signed on Monday with her Moroccan peer an accord on cooperation in matters of employment and vocational training, under which France will extend Morocco technical assistance in the fields of employment, and vocational training.

In an interview with the Moroccan daily "l'Economiste," the French official said France is following with keen interest the initiatives made by King Mohammed VI and the Moroccan cabinet's determination to boost economic development and struggle against poverty.

Paris wishes to establish a privileged partnership with Morocco in this new phase of its history, she said.
