Syria and the Israeli accusations
Syria-Israel, Politics, 1/19/2000
Monte Carlo radio said on Tuesday that the fact Syria did not react to the Israeli accusations addressed to it over the postponement of the third round of negotiations on the Syrian track is a Syrian tactic aimed at achieving more concessions.
The radio report added that Syria also limited its reaction to backing the new-old Syrian stances through its mass media.
The Syrian media, however, stated following the telephone call between Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa and US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright that the priority has been placed now on border demarcation according to the June 4, 1967 border lines. It said this means that Syria will not come back to the negotiations unless Israel abides itself to returning back to these lines.
