Talks by Jordanian irrigation minister in Ankara concerning water
Jordan-Turkey, Politics, 1/18/2000

Jordanian Water and Irrigation Minister Kamel Mahdin arrived yesterday in Turkey on an official visit, during which he will discuss the possibility of receiving water supply from it through Israel of nearly 180 million cubic meters during the coming two years.

Mahadin said the goal of the visit is to hold discussions with Turkish officials in the fields of water, dams and means of irrigation.

The Jordanian water minister assured that Jordan wants to import Turkish water and that this issue is listed on the agenda of King Abdullah II's visit to Turkey in April as he will participate in celebrating the 700th anniversary of the Ottman Empire.

The Turks draw links between Jordan and Israel's consent to this deal.
