Turkish minister arrives in Damascus

Turkish minister of meteorology and sea transport Merza Oglo and members of the accompanying delegation arrived in Damascus on Monday on an official visit to Syria. The visit will last for four days.

In an arrival statement to SANA, Oglo expressed his happiness to visit Syria. He praised Syrian-Turkish relations which have been recently remarkably developed. He said: "When we come to Syria, we feel at home, because we are two neighbors, and we have common historical and cultural ties. This makes it imperative for us to develop relations in all areas."

Oglo continued that the main aim of his visit is to develop relations between the two countries.

He continued that his visit marks the beginning of developing bilateral relations in all areas, especially trade and economic fields. He added that Turkey is eager for the establishment of a just and comprehensive peace in the region, due to the positive outcome of peace on all peoples and countries of the Middle East.

The Turkish minister concluded that cooperation relations between Syria and Turkey in the area of transport have not reached the required level, especially in sea transport. He hoped the situation wuold change following his meeting with Syrian Minister of Transport Mufid Abdul Karim.
