Sudan, Bahrain voice backing to Syria

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and the ruler of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad Bin Issa al-Khaleifa have asserted in a joint statement their full backing for and solidarity with Syria to restore back all its territories in the occupied Golan back to June 4, 1967 lines on the ground of UN resolutions 242 and 338 as well as the land-for-peace formula.
The two leaders also called for Israel's complete withdrawal from south Lebanon and the western Bekaa based on UN Security Council resolution 425.
In their statement released on Monday at the conclusion of al-Bashir's three-day visit to Bahrain, the Sudanese president and the emir of Bahrain stressed their support for peace negotiations as set by the Madrid conference, UN Security Council resolutions and peace agreements to reach a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
The two states expressed their support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights, especially their right to establish an independent state on their national soil with Jerusalem as its capital.
For maintaining security and stability in the region, the two sides renewed their demands to make the Middle East a zone free from all weapons of mass destruction and called on Israel to join the Non- Proliferation Treaty and to open all its facilities to the inspection of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Reviewing Arab, regional and international issues, the two sides expressed their desire to support common Arab action and work to restore Arab solidarity.
The two sides stressed their support for the efforts made by the tripartite committee in charge of drawing a mechanism to start direct negotiations between the United Arab Emirates UAE and Iran on the three islands of (Tanb the great, Tanb the small and Abu Moussa). Such a thing will ensure security and stability in the region and strengthen relations of confidence and cooperation between countries and peoples of the region.
The two sides condemned all form of terrorism and expressed their satisfaction over the increased realization of the international community of the necessity of fight and uprooting this phenomenon. They called for intensifying efforts to implement the resolutions taken by the UN General Assembly in its 51st session on this issue.
