Egypt backs peace efforts in ME

President Hosni Mubarak received Sunday morning Senator Tom Dashle, leader of Minority in the US Senate and his accompanying delegation, currently visiting Egypt.
The meeting was attended by US Ambassador in Cairo, Daniel Kurtzer. Senator Dashle said he was optimistic about the future of US-Egyptian partnership, pointing out that such partnership would definitely bolster relations between the two countries in all spheres.
Asked whether arrangements for President Mubarak's anticipated visit to the US were discussed during the meeting, Senator Dashle said that congressmen, both Republicans and Democrats are looking forward to Mubarak's visit expected to take place in March.
Senator Dashle said that his talks with President Mubarak covered the progress achieved so far on the Syrian-Israeli peace track.
Senator Harry Reid, member of the delegation accompanying US Senate Minority leader, expressed appreciation for the role played by Egypt and President Mubarak in supporting world peace.
He said that members of the US Senate delegation expressed admiration of the Presidentís viewpoints and ideas. "Viewpoints as regards many international and regional issues were identical," he added.
Moreover, the US Congress delegation has paid tribute to Egypt's political and economic stability.
