Extending cease fire in southern Sudan

The Sudanese government said that it is extending the cease fire in southern Sudan for three months.
The Foreign Ministry said that the extension aims at facilitating humanitarian operations and encouraging the peace endeavors.
Representatives of Khartoum's government and of the southern Sudanese rebels are holding talks in Nairobi under the supervision of the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
The talks aim at preparing for a new peace discussions scheduled for February in the Kenyan capital.
