US delegation on solidarity mission in Iraq
Iraq-USA, Politics, 1/17/2000
A US delegation, led by former attorney general Ramsey Clark, started on Sunday a solidarity and humanitarian mission in Iraq to give the embargo-struck country a $20 million assistance.
Clark said the embargo against Iraq is a serious violation of human rights and a genocide against the peaceful Iraqi people, reported the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The assistance consists of drugs and hospital equipment. The US delegation will visit hospitals and schools in various Iraqi regions.
Some sixty delegates of non-governmental organizations from the USA, Canada, Britain, Japan and Italy are members of the delegation. The trip coincides with the 9th anniversary of the US-led alliance war against Iraq.
