Drunk Moroccan pilot suspended
Morocco, Local, 1/17/2000
A Moroccan pilot who was found drunk as he was readying to fly from Amsterdam to the eastern Moroccan city of Oujda was suspended by the Moroccan carrier "RAM."
The Dutch police had denied to the Moroccan pilot-- who was found drunk-- the authorization to fly from the Amsterdam-Schiphol airport.
RAM said following the "very serious" incident, it took all security measures and replaced immediately the pilot by another colleague it sent from Casablanca. The pilot will face other disciplinary sanctions.
Dutch news agency reported that tests conducted on the pilot, despite his resistance, found 2.2 grams of alcohol in his blood. He was fined to $115,000.
