Fassi Fihri on European Parliament work visit
Morocco-European Union, Politics, 1/17/2000
Foreign affairs secretary of state, Taib Fassi Fihri, started Monday a working visit to the European Parliament to look into aspects of Moroccan-EU cooperation, said a press release of the foreign affairs and cooperation department.
Fihri will probe with heads of European institutions issues pertaining to the enforcement of the association agreement signed in Feb. 1996 and convey the Moroccan stand on the EU decision to require as of Jan. 2000 import certificates for Moroccan tomatoes.
Private operators and departments set up an ad-hoc committee to coordinate and marshal the Moroccan stand turning down tomato import restrictions imposed by the EU.
Technical consultations involving directors from the Moroccan departments of foreign affairs, agriculture, rural development and fisheries started Monday at the European commission in Brussels, the release said.
