Seven new ministers in a Cabinet reshuffle in Jordan

Jordanian Prime Minister Abdul Raouf al-Rawabdeh on Saturday made the second reshuffle in his government, which he formed in March 1999 and first amended at the beginning of September, 1999.

According to the new reshuffle Jordanian journalist Saleh Qallab was appointed as minister of information instead of Aymen al-Majali, who kept his post as deputy prime minister. Qallab also assumed the tasks of the ministry of culture in place of Faisal al-Rafou who left the ministry.

The new reshuffle included seven new ministers who are, besides Qallab, Issa Ayyoub, Muslih Tarawneh, Mohammad Halaiqa, Wael Sabri, Khalaf Masaadeh and Abdullah Toukan.

Following the new reshuffle, the Jordanian Cabinet has become as follows: Prime Minister and Defense Minister Abdul Raouf al-Rawabdeh; Deputy Prime Minister Ayman al-Majali; Deputy Premier Marwan Hammoud; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning Rima Khalaf; Foreign Minister Abdul Illah al-Khatib, Minister of Information and Culture Saleh Qallab (new); Transport Minister Issa Ayyoub (new); Health Minister Muslih Tarawneh (new); Minister of Trade, Industry and Supply Mohammad Halaiqa (new); Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Wael Sabri (new), Finance Minister Michael Marto; Minister of Water Kamel al-Haddadin; Justice Minister Khalaf Masaadeh (new), Minister of Telecommunications Abdullah Toukan (new), Minister of Public Works and Housing Hosni Abu Gheida; Minister of Youth and Sports Saeed Shaqm; Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Parliamentary Issues Tawfiq Kreishan, Minister of Education and Higher Education Izzat Jaradat, Tourism Minister Aqel Beltaji; Labor Minister Eid al-Fayez; Social Development Minister Hashem al-Shabboul; and Minister of al-Awqaf (Islamic trusts) and the Islamic Shrines Abdul Salaam al-Abbadi.

The new ministers in the Jordanian government took their constitutional oath before Jordan's King Abdullah on Saturday.
