Trial starts for secretary of Fatah movement in Lebanon

The military court in Beirut started trying Khaled Aref, secretary of the Fatah movement, in Saida today, concerning whom an arrest warrant was issued for committing terrorist works, yet the trial was delayed until the end of the current month.

The movement started getting ready to depart nearly 2,000 Palestinians from camps in southern Sidon to the self-rule Palestinian territories, fearing a deterioration in relations between the Palestinian and Lebanese authorities which believes that the existence of these camps is a danger to security and stability in Lebanon.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese authorities arrested two members of the Fatah movement in the Palestinian camps and moved 1,800 Palestinians from the camps to the self-rule lands.

A source in the movement said the Fatah officials were arrested from El Binyomia camp near Saida city. The officials are Ali Mezher and Taiseer Karous, who is an official in the preventive security affiliated to Colonel Gabril El Ragoub in the Palestinian self-rule authority.

Ragoub is sentenced in absentia to 15 years imprisonment for forming an armed gang to create instability and trade in weapons illegally in Lebanon.
