International committee arrives in Cairo for the problem of the land mines

A special committee affiliated to the United Nations will arrive in Egypt during February to examine the problem of land mines in the Egyptian Sahara.
Ahmed Abdu El-Ghait, Egypt's permanent delegate at the United Nations who is currently visiting Cairo, said this committee includes a large number of experts and officials on mines.
He said they will meet with Egyptian officials to learn the dimensions of the problem, adding that his country will continue its move on the international level during the coming period to gain international support and to receive economic and technical aid for removing these mines which threaten the future of tourism and humanitarian development in this area.
