Norway's prime minister arrives in Egypt today

Norwegian Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik begins an official three-day visit to Egypt this Saturday, the second since he took over in 1997.

His talks with Egypt's Prime Minister Atef Ebeid involves a host of international and regional issues, mainly developments in the Middle East peace process and Israeli-Syrian peace talks and the Israeli-Palestinian final status talks.

Norway has played an important role in preparing for the signing of the Oslo accord by the Palestinians and Israelis in 1992.

Talks will also touch on bilateral cooperation and support for cooperation in trade and investment.

The two countries are expected to conclude a package of agreement in economic, commercial, technical and cultural realms.

A source in the Norwegian embassy in Cairo said the visit aims at developing economic relations between the two countries in joint investment and commercial development and urging Norwegian work organizations to invest in Egypt, as commercial exchange between the two countries reaches $60 million annually.
