Morocco-USA, Politics, 1/15/2000
Premier Abderrahmane Youssoufi met in Rabat the visiting delegation of US congressmen led by Wayne Owens whose members renewed praise for the role played by the kingdom in the Middle East peace process.
Youssoufi underscored friendship ties between the two countries and said Morocco played a major role in the peace process and remains braced for peace enforcement worldwide. Neighborly relations and stability in the region are part of the kingdom's priorities, he said.
The prime minister also recalled the country's achievements in human rights and strengthening of democracy and socioeconomic challenges his government is faced with.
The congressmen said they would carry on "material and moral" support to the Mideast peace process and backing to Moroccan proposals.
