$1.7 billion US in Arab debts to Iraq

A statement issued by the Iraqi Finance Ministry said today that the total amounts due to Iraq from seven Arab states reached $ 1,705,256,000 through December 31, 1999.
The Iraqi statement said that these amounts comprise loans, value of petroleum exports and kept profits at the Arab companies as well as deposited of the Iraqi banking body.
According to the source, Iraq's debts from Saudi Arabia are $603.154 million, from Syria $461.9 million, Bahrain $332.5 million, Somalia $90.2 million, the United Arab Emirates $18 million and Egypt $2.6 million.
