Turkish prime minister assures his country's adherence to developing relations with Egypt
Egypt-Turkey, Politics, 1/14/2000

Fathi El-Shazeli, Egypt's ambassador in Turkey, said that Turkish Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit showed a great adherence and real desire to develop cooperation between his country and Egypt in all fields to achieve the two countries' joint interests, especially as the two countries are considered the two pivots of the regional stability.

The Egyptian ambassador also said that Ecevit, who received him yesterday, renewed to him Turkey's appreciation for the active role exerted by President Mubarak and Egyptian diplomacy in removing the tension in Turkish - Syrian relations.

Ecevit said that "the best of the improvement signs took place in the relations between Ankara and Damascus after this positive Egyptian role allowed the Syrian families to visit their relatives on the Turkish side of the borders during the lesser Bairam period."
