Morocco carries on political, socioeconomic reforms
Morocco, Politics, 1/14/2000

Premier Abderrahmane Youssoufi paid tribute to the late King Hassan II for steering Morocco onto the track of political and socioeconomic reform and called for further efforts to consolidate the consensus he marshalled with democratic forces.

Youssoufi, reading out Thursday the government statement before the house of representatives, pledged to carry on on the same track under the leadership of King Mohammed VI and voiced satisfaction over the smooth transition that followed the passing away of the late monarch.

The government would go ahead with reforms wanted and backed by the sovereign and strengthen the "rule of law," enforce the new approach to authority, and speed up the fight against unemployment and poverty, women integration, rural promotion, and education, justice and administration reforms.
