AL wants observer representing it at Lockerbie trial

The Arab League asked the UN on Thursday to appoint a legal exert from the AL within the team of UN observers who are assigned to follow up on the trial of the two Libyans in suspected of being involved in the Lockerbie incident.
On Thursday, in Cairo, AL Assistant Secretary General for Arab Affairs Ahmad Bin Hali said that AL chief Esmat Abdul Meguid sent a message on Thursday to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan in this respect. Bin Hali added, "The AL request to appoint a legal expert from the AL within the team of UN observers comes within the framework of the AL's desire to ensure following up on the investigations."
