Iraq to allow International Atomic Energy Agency delegation to conduct inspection
Iraq, Politics, 1/13/2000
Iraq agreed for the first time in a year to the visit of a delegation from the International Atomic Energy Agency for a routine inspection mission of Iraqi establishments.
Nizar Hamdoun, the under secretary of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, said this consent for the request of the IAEA came in light of the non-proliferation treaty signed with the international agency in 1997.
The IAEA team is expected to arrive at Baghdad on January 21s, but the number of team members and which Iraqi locations will be inspected were not determined.
