World Cup of sailing to open Friday in Safaga

The World Cup for sailing is to start on Friday in the Egyptian tourist city of Safaga and will last until January 22. 130 players representing 37 countries-- among which are Germany, the UK, France, Hungary, Poland, Russia, Belarus, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Spain, Portugal, Greece, the USA and Egypt-- will participate.

The championship's prizes are $25,000 US for the first three winners of men and women.

The race will be between the tourism village of Shams Safaga and Topia Island in the Red Sea. This championship is a qualifier for participating in Sidney session of the Olympic games next summer.

This championship is specified only under for Pentamistral style only under the auspices of the Egyptian tourism ministry's newspaper, Red Sea governorate and Port Said.
