Israeli Radio and the Shepherdstown talks
Syria-Israel, Politics, 1/12/2000
The correspondent of the Israeli radio to the US town of Shepherdstown, West Virgina, site of the recent Syrian - Israeli peace talks, quoted the spokesman for the Israeli prime minister before the departure of the Israeli delegation from the town as saying that the forthcoming round of Syrian-Israeli negotiations will be held in the US state of Maryland.
The Israeli delegate also quoted Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak as saying to reporters before leaving Shepherdstown that the decisive plan in the Israeli- Syrian negotiations is approaching.
Replying to a question on whether Lebanon will join the third round of Syrian- Israeli negotiations, Barak said that he has no idea about that.
The Israeli Radio correspondent added that Barak refused to answer questions asked by journalists pertaining to results of the second round of negotiations, especially regarding the question of borders.
The correspondent continued that the plane which carried Barak and the Israeli delegation landed on Tuesday at Rome's airport on its way to Israel.
