Israeli foreign minister in Morocco
Morocco-Israel, Politics, 1/11/2000
Israeli Foreign Minister David Levy will start Wednesday a visit to Morocco, where he will be received by King Mohammed VI, the Moroccan foreign affairs and cooperation department announced.
Levy will inform King Mohammed VI on the latest developments in the Middle-East peace process, particularly the outcome of the Syrian-Israeli peace negotiations in Shepherdstown, USA.
The Israeli foreign minister will also brief the king on the evolution of the Israeli-Palestinian peace track.
Levy will also confer with Moroccan officials, including Prime Minister Abderrahmane Youssoufi, Foreign affairs and Cooperation Minister Mohamed Benaissa, and the king's advisor, Andre Azoulay.
Levy, a Moroccan-born Jew, will then stay in Morocco for a two-day private visit.
Last December, PLO Executive Committee Secretary Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen), visited Morocco to brief King Mohammed VI on the evolution of the peace process and the stumbling blocks hampering the implementation of the Wye Plantation and the Sharm El-Sheikh accords concluded with Israel.
