Nouakchott airport stops working after midnight daily

Mauritania's authorities have decided to close off Nouakchott's airport to air navigation from midnight until 6:00 a.m. in order to ensure calm for the people who live around the facility.
AFP quoted Mauritanian official sources as saying that instructions were given to airline companies to honor these dates except in cases of emergency, and then prior applications should have had submitted to get the green light for landing.
According to the newly-introduced measures a plane from an Africa airline was prevented from landing at Nouakchott airport and the company was obliged to land the passengers in Dakar and then rent another plane to take them on the second day to Nouakchott, SANA reported.
