Syria: Peace road is still long and hard
Syria, Politics, 1/10/2000
Damascus stated yesterday that the road to peace is still long and hard and that removing the obstacles confronting it will not be easy unless Israel accepts the principle of a complete withdrawal from the Golan Heights to the June 4, 1967 borders, adding that those following up on the Syrian - Israeli peace talks are completely sure that Syria adheres to providing the proper elements that will allow achieving an actual start in the process and lead toward paving the way for an equal and just agreement that fulfills the interests of all parties.
In its political commentary yesterday, Damascus radio said the USA, as it is actually participating in the current talks, became aware that Syria, despite the crisis created by Israel concerning the priorities of negotiations, has not lost its patience, but it showed all response and cooperation with the US efforts because Syria came to these talks aiming at a just and comprehensive peace because it considers these talks an opportunity in which all parties can benefit from.
