Expenditures of media advertisement in the Arab states

A report issued by the Arab Center for Research in Dubai has said that total expenditures on advertisement in the Arab states reached US $515 million during 11 months 1999.
The Gulf News Agency quoted the report, which covered all Arab states, as saying that advertisement expenditures reached US $299 million in Saudi Arabia, US $169 million in the United Arab Emirates, US $156 million in Kuwait, US $33 million in each of Bahrain and Qatar, US $24 million in Oman, while it has reached US $397 million in Lebanon and US $325 in Egypt.
The report indicated that the services sector had the most expenditures in advertisement, with a rate of 33% of expenditures in all sectors, in controlling 58% of the advertisement in the newspapers, 15% in the magazines, 22% on TV and 5% in other mass media.
The report stated that advertising expenditures via TV have increased by 10% because of the newly established satellite TV stations, through the press in 4%, and 3% through magazines, 11% in the radio and 72% through the video.
