Syrian-Israeli talks resumed on Sunday
Syria-Israel-USA, Politics, 1/10/2000

Syrian-Israeli peace talks were due to be resumed on Sunday in Shepherdstown following a one-day cessation.

A source close to the talks said he expected the US President to have met with Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa and with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak in what is thought to be the last full working day on a high level in the talks between the two sides.

The source stressed that like Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa will leave the US today and will leave peace talks on lower levels.

The source said that Clinton was due to arrive in Shepherdstown on Sunday afternoon (US time) and was expected to hold separate talks with al-Sharaa and Barak and then a tripartite meeting with Barak and al-Sharaa.

The source stated that the work groups pertaining to the borders and water met on Sunday for the first time since the beginning of the talks.
