Morocco's coach convokes team for African Nations Cup
Morocco, Sports, 1/7/2000
Morocco's French coach, Henri Michel, has convoked 22 players for the African Nations Cup (CAN-2000), to be co-hosted by Nigeria and Ghana, Jan 22 through February 13.
The new list includes Ahmed Bahja, the Moroccan star of Saudi Annasr Club, who has been excluded from the team for over two years.
Bahja has not been called to the national team since the last African Nations Cup of 1998 in Burkina Faso. Michel has been compelled to call him back in view of his brilliant performance in Saudi Arabia, where he has been considered the best foreign player for the last several years.
Bahja's return has also become a need for the national team to fill the void in the attack line.
The list includes 19 players based in Europe and only 3 from the home league.
