Abdul Meguid: Convening an Arab summit is something vital

Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid stated that convening an Arab summit is considered a required and vital matter, saying that circumstances and current international changes necessitate modifications in the AL charter.
Abdul Meguid stated that the AL welcomes any Arab communications for convening the summit.
He expressed his confidence in the Arab leaders' appreciation and their choice of the right time for convening it, especially in the shadow of the challenges posed by globalization and the results of the World Trade Organization's summit in the US ciry of Seattle, which showed the importance of the major Arab free trade zone urged by the concluding statement of Cairo summit in 1996.
