Rubin denies talks on disarming Hizbullah party
Syria-Israel, Politics, 1/7/2000
The spokesman for the US State Department, James Rubin, on Wednesday evening denied news that Syrian-Israeli talks had dealt with the issue of disarming Hizbullah in the framework of security arrangements.
Rubin said, "I do not believe that is the focus of the work right now. I do believe that the Lebanon question is something that has come up here from time to time. I believe the focus of the Security Arrangements Committee is more on things like demilitarized zones and early warning."
