Israel deliberately obstructs border committee's work

Sources from the Syrian delegation to peace negotiations in Shepherdstown said on Thursday that the Israeli side is deliberately obstructing the work of the border demarcation committee for internal reasons in Israel.

AFP quoted these sources as saying that the Israelis "until now" refused to convene a meeting of the border committee and that this is has objective of convincing Israeli public opinion that the security arrangements and normalization committees are proceeding more than other specialized committees, namely the border and water committees.

AFP added that the question of borders was indirectly discussed through the American cosponsor, which carries out contacts and discussions with the two sides.
