Iraq, Politics, 1/6/2000
Iraqi sources said yesterday that three Iraqi army officers who were accused of treason and conspiracy were executed, saying that the three officers were executed on November 22. The sources added that the authorities refused to deliver the officers' corpses to their families until a few days ago.
The sources added that the three officers were inhabitants of El-Ramadi city, among which was retired General Abd El-Karim El-Hamdani, who participated in war of October 1973, and a member of the military office of the ruling El-Baath party.
The sources said the families of the three officers were prevented from attending the burial ceremonies or establishing places for condolences and that it was decided to increase security to prevent protests over the executions.
