Sudan, Eritrea resume diplomatic relations
Sudan-Eritrea, Politics, 1/5/2000
Sudan and Eritrea have resumed diplomatic relations, which had been soured by mutual accusations of backing each others rebels.
The Libyan news agency reported Tuesday that Sudan has reopened its embassy in Asmara, after the two countries signed an agreement during a four-nation summit held in Tripoli from December 21-22.
The meeting was attended by Presidents Omar Hassan el Bashir of Sudan, Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, Isaias Afeworki of Eritrea, and Laurent Kabila of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The four leaders signed several agreements aimed at settling disputes and normalizing relations among their countries, as well as the resumption of flights.
Meanwhile, Kampala and Kinshasa pledged to implement all the agreements signed in Libya and Zambia to end the conflict in Congo.
