Morocco, Agriculture, 1/5/2000
Morocco has exported an estimated 70,000 tons of early vegetables between January and November 99, said an official source.
The newsletter of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Sea Fisheries says tomatoes made up 88% of these exports. Tomato exports went up from 52,000 tons in Jan-Nov 98 to 62,000 in Jan-Nov.99.
The European Union bought almost 90% of early vegetables (against 79% in the corresponding period of 98), while the share of East European countries went down from 12% to 5%.
