Moroccan citrus fruit exports reach 85,547 tons up to Nov. 99

Up to November 1999, Morocco has exported 85,547 tons of citrus fruit, marking a 19% increase in comparison with the same period of last year, said the Moroccan Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Sea Fisheries.

In its newsletter, the ministry stated that since the orange exporting season has not yet begun, this volume consists mainly of small fruits.

Europe is the largest recipient. Markets in the European Union and Eastern Europe have each received 31,000 tons of Moroccan citrus fruits. This is higher respectively by 9% and 66% in comparison with the same period of 1998.

Meanwhile, Moroccan citrus fruit exports to the American market (19,000 tons) have regressed by 10%. The rest of Moroccan citrus fruit exports is divided between Norway, the Middle East and other regions.
