Turkey purchases AWACS for monitoring the Middle East

Turkish Defense Minister Sabahattin Cakmakoglu announced yesterday his country's intent to purchase AWACS early warning jets. Turkish sources depicted this transaction as being Turkey's eyes on all the Mediterranean Sea and Agean Sea. The sources said the jets will enable Turkey to monitor the whole aviation and missiles movement and that the value of the expected transaction is $1.5 billion US.
