Four killed in attacks against the Russian embassy in Beirut

Four persons were killed in a confrontation took place today in Beirut between the Lebanese internal security forces and the military police with armed men who attacked the premises of the Russian embassy in the Corniche al-Mazraa district with four shells.

News reports in Beirut said that the persons killed was a member of the Lebanese security forces, one of the embassy's guards as well as two Lebanese civilians.

Earlier the Lebanese military police besieged the al-Ije building where the gunmen resorted and cordoned off the region as well as closing routes and crossings leading to it since confrontations started with the gunmen.

Earlier the Lebanese police announced that one gunman was killed during the confrontation which took place in the al-Ije building. The Russian embassy is situated on Corniche al-Mazraa in Beirut.
