Morocco, Politics, 1/3/2000
The Coordination Commission of the Moroccan Human Rights Advisory Council (CCDH) received up to December 31, some 3,901 compensations applications for disappearence or arbitrary detention.
The commission, which met on Friday to discuss the new developments in the issue, decided to proceed to medical counter-expertise for some cases to set the harm caused to the concerned persons, the CCDH said in a release.
The commission, which was set up by King Mohammed VI, will set the amounts of compensations according to each case and the extent of damage incurred.
The commission's decisions are final and are not open to any appeal.
King Mohammed VI had repeatedly stressed that the promotion of human rights is on top of his priorities.
