Egyptian police controlled the events of Al-Kusheh village

A statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Interior today said that the police forces had controlled the situation in Al-Kusheh village (south of Cairo) after renewed violence among Christian and Moslem merchants and gunfire among the village's inhabitants due to a financial dispute between a Moslem merchant and a Christian merchant.

The statement added that some criminal elements stirred up disorder by escalating the reactions among the Moslems and the Christians, and that these elements committed robbery and set fire in some stores in Dar El-Salam city near Al-Kusheh village and that the Egyptian police used tears gas and arrested 21 of the participants in the events.

The statement also said the events resulted in the death of 11 and the injury of three other Copts and Moslems.
